What made you decide to pursue a career in the beauty industry?
“While beauty is something I’ve really only done in my personal life up to this point, it has always been my passion. I enjoy learning all new aspects of style. With my initial plan of career in entrepreneurship, I have decided to combine that with my passion for beauty to create my own business.”
What made you decide on capitol?
“After doing my research over many fantastic schools, I decided to choose Capitol because of the level of professionalism I have seen at events and on tours. I feel that Capitol will best prepare me for the real world of not only beauty, but also business.”
What does your involvement look like in the industry now?
“My relationship in the industry has currently been getting more involved in the outside world as well as within myself. I am working to learn how to advertise myself, and keep up on knowledge of products. While my current job is not related to the beauty industry, it does help me be able to pursue my hobbies of makeup, nail, skin, and hair care.”
What is something that you want to overcome during your time here at Capitol?
“Balancing school life with work life is definitely a scary thought I am determined to overcome. I know some of the long days of school, with work in the evenings, are going to be challenging. My plan for this has been to save money for this time, so that I only need to hold a part-time job, as opposed to full-time, and can mainly focus on being a student.”
How do you plan to make an impact on people’s lives when you begin school?
“Whether it’s a huge hair change, or a simple facial, any cosmetic appointment can make a big impact on a client’s day, so as I begin school I want to learn how to be the stylist someone can trust with that feeling. As I move to the salon I want to be able to transfer this knowledge so my clients are always 100% comfortable in my chair!”
what are you looking forward to most when starting school?
“Styling live clients is what I’m looking forward to the most. Since I’ve only ever practiced on myself, I really only know styles and products that work for me. Learning new techniques and getting to work with live clients is going to be really exciting because this will be the closest experience to what it will be like out of school and in a salon. I want to learn what works best for people, and remember those personal details.”
Thank you veronica for sharing your story with us. Congratulations on receiving the Trial and Hair Scholarship! We are excited to have you.
